Ann Targownik

Executive Director

Ann comes to SWFS with a firm commitment to synagogue life and the Reform movement. She has a wide-ranging background in congregational leadership and mentoring, a record of progressive programmatic and management accomplishments, well-developed communication skills and the desire to serve the Jewish community.

An award–winning architectural designer, with a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, Ann was influenced and inspired by her experiences as treasurer for three years and president for four years at Temple Israel Reform Congregation of Staten Island. Making the career change in the spring of 2000, she served as executive director of a dynamic 750 member congregation, The Jewish Center of the Hamptons in East Hampton, New York, until coming to SWFS in the Spring of 2005.

Ann is a Regional Vice President of the Union for Reform Judaism Greater New York Council and an active member of the Leadership Development and the Synagogue Community Committees. She is a senior member of the National Association of Temple Administrators and has received awards for service to the Jewish community, including the UJA–Federation of NY Community Service Award, the Temple Israel Reform Congregation Award for Service to the Synagogue and Community and the Council of Jewish Organizations Community of Staten Island Community Service Award. Ann has also earned numerous awards garnered during her three–decade career in design.
