Sherri Nicole Miller

Sherri Nicole Miller became a member of the Board of Trustees of Stephen Wise Free Synagogue in 2005. Sherri was most recently the Co-Chairperson of the Cantorial Search Committee, which led to the hiring of Cantor Daniel Singer. She also organized a special Welcome/Welcome–Back Oneg in the Fall of 2005 for hundreds of new and long–standing members.

Sherri is currently active on the Development and Planning Committees. Sherri and her husband, Brett have been members of SWFS since 2000. Sherri and Brett are the parents of Justin and Aaron. Justin is in second grade at the Riverdale Country School and a graduate of the Balfour Brickner Early Childhood Center at SWFS. Justin currently attends Hebrew School at SWFS. Aaron is a third–year student at the ECC and will graduate in June.

Since 2000, Sherri has held numerous leadership positions for the ECC. She was chairperson of the ECC Jewish Liaison Committee, organizing such events as Shabbat dinners and Havdalah services at SWFS. Sherri also chaired the Fall Benefit Committee for several years and oversaw the ECC Book Fair, both significant sources of revenue for the ECC. Sherri also participates in fund raising for Riverdale Country School. Sherri is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in marketing and spent more than a decade in the fashion industry as an executive at various companies including Macy’s and J.Crew. Her current interests include cooking, running (NYC Marathons ’99 & ’02) and photography.

Sherri recognizes the importance of the link between the ECC and SWFS, as it provides the growth plate for the future of the congregation. SWFS needs to continue to add young families to its current congregation in order to regain the prominence it once had in the reform community. Sherri has demonstrated her commitment to both the ECC and SWFS and she believes that her appointment to the Executive Committee would be as a representative building for the future of SWFS.
