MEET OUR MUSICIANS - DAVE KEEN (VIOLIN)

11/21/2007 | Cantor Daniel Singer

Dave Keen (Violin)

Upon completing a double major program with honors in Violin Performance and Composition at State University of New York at Purchase, Dave Keen set out on a US tour with the group X=X performing 20th century music with fellow musicians, playing violin and viola, as well as percussion and prepared piano in a collaborative dance production of John Cage's Second Construction in Metal. X=X performs New York composers' works as well as creating new approaches to composition through guided improvization.

He was violinist in the acclaimed David Glukh Klezmer Ensemble, performing at Merkin Hall, Puffin, Trailmix Festival, and around the country in synogogues and halls. DGKE also performed and recorded two albums, collaborating with concert violinist Lara St. John and Israeli composer Ronn Yedidia.

Dave also finds time between studio session work and classical freelancing around the US to team up with songwriter/percussionist Steven Jeungst and Hungarian guitarist David Zold in the progressive group The Wirx, as well as a new very promising vocal indie rock group Delano Grove with Karen Xerri and guitarist Luke Lappin. Delano Grove's song "Atomic Car" can be found on the soundtrack of the recent motion picture "Strangers with Candy."

Dave joined the musical group at Steven Wise Free Synagogue in 2005.
