Our Staff
Our teachers are an invaluable part of the ECC community.
They are professional, dynamic, nurturing and inspiring. Their dedication
to the children, their families and the ECC itself is clear from the
creativity and enthusiasm they bring to their classes and the long-term
commitment so many teachers have made to the school.
 Each ECC class is staffed by three teachers: a head teacher
who has or is working towards a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood
Education and two assistant teachers. Some classrooms have two co-teachers
and one assistant teacher.
In addition, the ECC has a team of specialists who provide
instruction to all the children in music, movement, environment, arts,
and science. The children also meet regularly with the librarian, who
manages the ECC’s extensive children’s library.
The professional development of all teachers is a high
priority at the ECC. Staff development meetings and workshops are held
weekly during the school year, and a significant level of funding historically
has been dedicated to professional development opportunities. In the
past three years alone, ten ECC teachers and the Director have participated
in study tours of the world-renowned schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy.
Also on staff is an educational consultant from the Jewish
Board of Family and Children’s Services. The consultant, who is
a psychologist and child development expert, provides support to ECC
parents and teachers. The consultant meets regularly with ECC staff and
periodically conducts staff development workshops as well as workshops
for parents. The consultant also is available for private parental consultations.
