Center for Values and Community Service
Rabbi Ammiel Hirsch writes, "At the heart of Judaism is the call to responsibility. We believe that all human beings are created in the image of God, and that, therefore, each of us, as individuals, and our synagogue, as a community, are collectively responsible for humanity.... I am asking each of you to volunteer at least one hundred minutes of your time this year to one of our many social service programs.... You will discover, as the ancient rabbis said, that the reward of doing a good deed is the deed itself. You will feel good about yourself. You will feel good about being Jewish."
