The Religious School will be investigating the themes, history, and experience of Passover in great detail in their classrooms. As a way to connect the entire community together, our Third through Sixth Grade community will participate in our ANNUAL CHAROSET CHALLENGE. This educational and social experience allows each class to explore the Jewish people, customs and Passover experience in different countries all over the world. The students then create a learning presentation for the rest of the community along with actually creating the special charoset made in that specific country. In a camp-style iron-chef/quiz show competition, students become knowledgeable in both the Passover traditions and the prayers from the Passover Haggadah. Our special judges (clergy and professional SWFS staff) grade the students on presentation, knowledge of the country and Jewish population in the country, and the visual presentation and taste of the charoset.
Students look forward to this exciting interactive event each year. May the best country’s charoset win!
This event is only available to current enrolled students and will take place during Religious School hours on Sunday, April 1st and Wednesday, April 4th.
