Norman Levin brings to SWFS a rich and varied background. After dropping out of architectural school, Norman went to work for Sotheby’s where he worked as the production coordinator for their high-quality sales catalogues. In a chance meeting with a remarkable Holocaust survivor who rebuilt his business four times (Germany, France, Cuba and the U.S.), Norman went into the wholesale eyewear business, progressing until he was national marketing director for one of Europe’s largest manufacturers.

From there, Norman decided to work for the Jewish community and was hired as the marketing and communications director for one of the Jewish Federations. His volunteer background as a synagogue president soon enticed the North American Association of Synagogue Executives to place him at a vibrant Conservative synagogue in New Jersey. As executive director, he served a 550-member congregation.

Norman is our all-around “go-to guy” here at SWFS. Since coming aboard as a part-time consultant in July 2009, he has helped organize and run many of our programs and events, as well as coordinate our communications both internally and externally.

Norman is married and has one son, a Beijing-stationed journalist. He spends the little time he has away from SWFS working on a monumental Bildungsroman which will be an astounding success, should he ever finish it.
