The 2s Program meets from 9:10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., two or three days per week; additionally, for children 2 ½ and up, there is a 5-day 2s program that meets from 9 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. Lunch is provided by each family and served in the classrooms.
At the beginning of the 2s program, our emphasis is on the child’s transition from the home environment to school. Working closely with families, and using a phase-in schedule, we work to gain each child’s trust and to create a sense of community. During this year learning occurs in a hands-on manner through the use of sensory materials and experiences. Among the tools of play in the classrooms are sand, water, clay, play dough, puzzles, table games, manipulative toys, dramatic play props, science equipment, books, paint, paper, and markers. Music and cooking are regular activities and are incorporated into the celebration of Jewish holidays.
