Nasty Woman

In this sermon, Rabbi Diana Fersko reflects on the words of a particular US presidential candidate alongside the holiday of Simchat Torah, and the women of the Torah whose legacies still inspire us today. “This year, as we dance with the Torah and celebrate its legacy, let’s give a special shout-out to all the women inside. Let’s think about the dozens of women inside that scroll who remain unnamed. Let’s think about the women who did what they had to do to perpetuate our people. I don’t know if they were nasty, nice, or a combination or multiple qualities like most of us. But I think this year might be a good year to think about them as we celebrate our inheritance.”
