When his beloved wife, Jean, passed away, long-time Stephen Wise Free Synagogue member Sidney Seifer chose to honor her memory by establishing a scholarship fund to recognize students whose consistent study, participation, volunteerism, and leadership have enriched the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue community. Sidney and Jean were both teachers, and the Jean Seifer Memorial Scholarship Fund is a tribute to their lifelong devotion to education and Jewish life.

The fund supports a $5,000 college scholarship for one student per year. The recipient’s family must be members in good standing of Stephen Wise Free Synagogue and the recipient will have demonstrated personal integrity, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to Judaism, Jewish life, and the Jewish community. High school seniors and others who intend to enter college in the fall of 2018 (e.g., those taking a gap year) are eligible to apply.
